I request readers to read the poem first from the link above and then only my review. Thanks.
Appreciation of the beauty of Sunset is not exclusive to poets. Many of us we get lost in the wonderful transformation and often the birds return to their nests then. While watching a Sunset in the hills or bays, a person is one of the numerous travellers enjoying the scenery. Even though appreciates as part of a crowd only his love for beauty and nature which is subjective is the reason and the experience is personal. Still, is there anything objective in this? Something macro too? The poem smoothly does the traverse in the following stanzas:
that fills you,
as the sun
reaches out,
as it warms you
as you stand there,
empty-handed–
or have you too
turned from this world–
or have you too
gone crazy
for power,
for things?
When we focus on power and materialistic things slowly the inborn love for nature, serenity and getting lost with them evaporate. The poem carries a positive note with hope for the redemption of mankind from the greed for power, things and indulgence to oneness with nature. This is very poetic and not like a campaign or slogan or a preaching. Well done.
