There are rare occasions when a person tries to reason with another; or tries to bring that him to senses. Often such an attempt exposes the second person’s ego and indifference to see another person’s point of view. There is a good number of occasions one takes up the role of brokering peace and finding a solution, in spite of previous bitter experiences. The initiative of a generous person is appreciable and genuine but if he takes on insensitive people he will end up like Don Quixote facing the windmills.

The poet empathizes with the good intentions of Don Quixote, who was carried away by his imaginations and lacked common sense. The world actually is lot different from what one perceives it to be. There are dead ends and unreasonable practices in place in every walk of life. The lack of willingness to enforce social reforms, and the lack of vision about a whole new better world are common. Before getting emotional and heroic one has to understand that the sufferers and the perpetrators both have to awake and find solutions. The other side of a silently suffering person is his complacence to the injustices to him and many others. Change for better starts from within. Any third person initiative will be quixotic for all.

The poet has used a classic’s legendary character to take forward his theme. That makes this poem impressive.
