A.K.Mehrotra’s poem ‘Where will the next one come from’

I request readers to read the poem from the above link first and then my review. Thanks.

A.K.Mehrotra’s poem ‘Where will the next one come from’ is a very short poem and in the first read the reader might certainly wonder what the poet actually wants to convey. In the last but one stanza certainly the poet has given us a lead. By 'next one' he means the theme of the next poem or the visualization on which the next poem might be written. In the second third reading we find the poet subtly tries to tell the readers neither the origin nor the process of a creative work is a big deal, and only the poem or fiction that can stand the test of time is great. A missing shoe or a decaying pumpkin or a cat climbing down a tree or the sowing of seeds prior to monsoon all these routine or mundane looking things can create a spark in a gifted creator. His genius might create a whole new wonderful piece of art for the readers. But when Mehrothra uses bread figuratively, we see the empathy of the poet towards the starving and suffering masses. He highlights, metaphorically, bread can create a new piece of art. But the ending of the poem opens a thought process within for the readers. The next one will be like a curse. A curse is something wholly negative, because the cursing person carries so much of vengeance and is unforgiving, and on the other hand the cursed person never knows whether the curse will actually have ill effects or not. We call certain things like a natural resource or a rare talent of a person a gift or blessing of the almighty. Similarly we call calamities or disasters curses. But we find many of the devastation in the forms landslides or floods are man made. This is a poem on humanity and repetitive failures of humans in empathy and inclusiveness. The next one, can it bring a visualization of bliss or blessing?
